The English title Leviticus may well be at the root of some of our negative attitudes toward the book itself. The title suggests that its contents have to do primarily with the Levites, implying that this is a manual for the Levitical priesthood. And since none of us aspire to be Levitical priests, the fate of the book is sealed. The title Leviticus is misleading.
